Abstract Introduction There is lot of confusion related to Forensic Medicine and Toxicology subject in the MBBS and MD curriculum like MBBS curriculum given by Medical Council of India (now National Medical Commission) mentioned Forensic Medicine/ Forensic Medicine including Toxicology/ Forensic Medicine and Toxicology nomenclature at various places while MD curriculum mentioned only Forensic Medicine. Many questions are striking like can a faculty of forensic medicine and toxicology treat poisoning patients, can they start toxicology laboratory or can they do private practice in the field of toxicology, etc. In this review article, an attempt has been made to clarify various doubts related to Forensic Medicine and Toxicology subject via critical analysis of competency based PG training program of MD Forensic Medicine which is given by NMC with particular focus on toxicology component of it. Our article critically analyzed subject name, goal, subject specific competencies, time frame to acquire such knowledge and skills, rotation in other departments, theory and practical examination pattern, etc. of MD Forensic Medicine curriculum in relation to toxicology.
