Online published on 19 December, 2023. Abstract Introduction India had been reeling under a period of stress due to the Corona virus pandemic. This study was undertaken with an objective for profiling of the laboratory confirmed Covid positive patients who were admitted to the Covid wards and succumbed during this period with special focus on the clinic-epidemiological parameters. Material and Methods This cross-sectional study was undertaken at Great Eastern Medical School, Srikakulam, a tertiary care Covid hospital from 16th April’ 2021 to 15th June’2021. Results 2693 patients were admitted and 671 deaths occurred during this study period, comprised of direct deaths due to Covid-19 infection and deaths due to co-morbid condition with Covid-19 as an associated infection. Out of 116 deceased taken as study sample, mortality was observed in 71 males and 45 females in a ratio of 1.58:1. 58 patients (50%) belonged to age group of 41-60 years followed by 48 patients (41.38%) in age groups of more than 60 years. Majority (76.72%) of deaths occurred in patients who arrived at the hospital after 4 days of onset of symptoms. Among the admitted patients, 46.55% died within first 4 days of admission.70.69% of the deceased had co-morbid conditions with Cardiac disease observed in 24.99% patients followed by Diabetes (20.68%). 75 % of the patients had SPO2 less than 90 at admission. Non Invasive ventilation was administered to 50 percent of patients at admission. Conclusion This study shall serve as an important background data to evaluate our future management for this particular region and pave a way for further research.
