Abstract

In the present study eleven plant extracts, six biocontrol agents, two systemic fungicides, three nonsystemic fungicides along with two combi products were evaluated in vitro to study their efficacy in inhibiting the mycelial growth of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp, dianthi. The treatments proved effective under in vitro studies were tested in vivo for managing the wilt disease. Among the eleven plant extracts studied, clove oil (100% inhibition) was found most effective in inhibiting mycelial growth of P. oxysporum f, sp. dianthi followed by garlic extract with 79.26 per cent inhibition. Among biocontrol agents evaluated Trichoderma viride, T. harzianum and T. virens inhibited the mycelial growth of F. oxysporum. f. sp. dianthi to the extent of 73.89, 73.66 and 73.33 per cent respectively. Carbendazim at three concentrations (500, 1000 and 1500 ppm) gave 100 per cent inhibition of mycelial growth. Among the non systemic and combi-products evaluated, carbendazim + mancozeb (98.88% inhibition) was on par with carbendazim + iprodione (98.42%) followed by mancozeb (89.53%). Among the various treatments studied in vivo, wilt disease was completely reduced in carbendazim alone and carbendazim + mancozeb (saaf). next best treatments were mancozeb (16.67%), carbendazim + iprodione (16.67 %) and garlic extract (16.67 %) followed by thiophanate methyl (33.33 %).
