Online published on 10 December, 2015. Abstract Background The enormity of academic burden on the medical students is a well-known fact and is relevant globally. Mostly, when the students enter a medical college for their graduation, they are many times unable to grasp the subject, especially the subject anatomy which is taught during the first year of the MBBS course. The students need three dimensional visions to understand the different relations of the organ/structure. At the end of the academic year students find it difficult to revise all parts of anatomy such as gross anatomy, embryology, histology and applied anatomy. To overcome this challenge and to revise all ‘must know’ points, there is a need of development of some kind of teaching module which will improve the understanding and performance of the students. Aim To develop a simple, effective and comprehensive teaching module with the help of pictures/diagrams in Power Point slides and to assess the efficacy of the project. Materials and Methods Selection and editing of the diagrams were done before the series of revision lectures. The revision lectures were conducted in April 2012 and April 2013 before preliminary examinations. A pre-test and post-test of 15 questions were conducted before and after the revision lecture. Feedback was taken from students regarding series of revision lectures. Result Statistical analysis of pre-test and post-test showed significant knowledge gain. Most of the students agreed that the revision module was useful. Conclusion An effective, simple teaching module with images in Power Point slides can be used in rapid and comprehensive revision for first year MBBS students in anatomy.
