The present investigation communicates the studies of acute hepatic cysticercosis in two lambs. The death of young lambs was observed by the shepherds, after clinical signs of anorexia, lethargy and debility soon after they were introduced to grazing. Necropsy revealed the accumulation of serohaemorrhagic fluid in the peritoneal cavity with the presence of immature cysticerci. Grossly the liver displayed perihepatitis, necrotic foci with many tortuous white and dark haemorrhagic tracts that were variable in length on its surface as well as in the parenchyma along with distribution of numerous immature cysticerci. Histological examination of infected livers revealed extensive haemorrhages in the parenchyma around the migratory paths of cysticerci, along with infiltration of inflammatory and mononuclear cells. The pathological and morphological findings confirm that the death of the lambs was due to acute hepatic cysticercosis caused by C. tenuicollis.
