Abstract

Objective

Trust is one of the challenges in productivity and organizational success. The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting trust in the librarians of academic libraries.

Methods

In this descriptive study, 300 librarians of academic libraries were selected as samples. The status of trust and the factors affecting it were evaluated by questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS software.

Results

Findings revealed that competence and supporting had the highest score among the trust effecting factors. On the other hand, communication and delegation of authority had the lowest score. There was no significant relationship between gender, education degrees, employment type and location with librarians’ trust to their managers.

Conclusion

The obtained results indicated that the factors influencing the trust of librarians in priority order are competency, supporting, attention, stability, participation, delegation of authority and communication. This ranking points the high attention to competence, supporting and stability in academic libraries’ management, and less attention to communication and delegation of authority in these libraries.
