Abstract The research paper based on Browning's startling poem “Porphyria's Lover ”aims to perceive the panorama behind the bars of words. Our work makes an effort to judge the characters, mentioned in the poem, in a different perspective. Many critics criticize the speaker of the poem to be “mad ”but there is always “the other face of a coin ”. We do not justify the gruesome act committed by the speaker (even God was left without justification in the end) but an effort is made to mould the perception in a different angle. It is like one can see deep inside one's entails, the underneath turmoil of emotions is unraveled. Browning is beyond praise and his imagination is beyond liminaliqi. Top Keywords Dramatic monologue, Passivity, Power, Sin. Top | |
