Abstract

The presentscenario is of globalisation. The whole world is advancing towards it. In this phenomenon, the traditional theories of a patriarchal Hindu society which was male-dominated have been changing gradually. Now the role of women has become more empowered and they are no less than men. There is no field left untouched by women. The literature by the women writers has played an important role in this process of women-empowerment. Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is one of those Indian women writers who have tried their best to change the age-old conventional Indian society.
