Abstract

French Nobel laureate Annie Ernaux has become a celebrated name in literary circles following the announcement of the Nobel Prize for Literature. Ernaux, a feminist with a special affinity for the voiceless, shares a kinship with Indian Dalit writers like Omprakash Valmiki and Mulk Raj Anand. She wields language as a weapon, writing with true perspective to advocate for a just and inclusive society. Ernaux’s writing style(s) and works exemplify openness and acceptance of the real and the need for expression through literature. This article delves into Annie Ernaux’s writing style(s) and some of her significant works, contextualizing her 2022 Nobel Prize.
