Literature always anticipates life. It does not copy it but molds it to its purpose.” -Oscar Wilde

It is this anticipation of what could happen that allows writers to explore themes that stay relevant for centuries. Rereading narratives about war, gender, partition, and climate change are all the more relevant in the 21st century as we find ourselves in the midst of a post pandemic world which saw multiple changes at every level of human experience.

Literature not only warns humanity but also actively shapes it by recording experiences that would otherwise be lost. The purpose for this century is clear that we need to learn from our past but at the same “rage against the dying of the light”.
