Online Published on 31 March, 2023. Abstract Bacopa monnieri (Jalabrahmi) is an important medicinal plant species which has immense value in enhancing memory and different health related issues. B. monnieri contains several important saponins like bacosides, bacopasides and bacopasaponins including cucurbitacins, bacomosides and monnierasides, having a great potential as antioxidants, antidepressants, anticancer, antidiabetic and antimicrobial agent and also reported to have preventive action on Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Commercial cultivation practices of B. monnieri are available which can yield approximately 2 t/ha of dried foliage annually. Besides being the main ingredient of several ayurvedic and homoeopathic formulations, several commercial products of B. monnieri are also available in the market for using in different health related problems and are in high demand.
