In India, it is found in dry mountainous, small hilly areas, desert flood plains and grasslands of Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. At present, S. oleoides becomes an endangered plant in the Kutch region of Gujarat, due to water insufficiency, less precipitation, ineffective propagation by vegetative means, less viability, population growth, deforestation, and global warming. All parts of S. oleoides have been widely used for medicinal, pharmaceutical, industrial and nutritional purposes. This plant has its own ecological value in the maintenance of a desert ecosystem and therefore, conservation of such unexplored plants needs to be immediately. This review article is focused to explore the current status, origin, history, distribution, ecological value, traditional value and medicinal importance of this plant. Top Keywords Medicinal value, Traditionally importance, Toothbrush tree. Top |
