Online Published on 14 March, 2024. Abstract The most striking aspect of a person’s personality is hair. Hair problems, especially hair loss, is a major rising issue in society because it is related with the self-confidence and elegant appearance of a person. Addressing the hair problems with herbal remedies is an alternative solution for allopathic treatment with little side effects. Hair physical and mechanical properties predict the quality of hair strands like elasticity, smoothness, volume, shine, and softness. This review helps in understanding the hair structure, and its physical, mechanical, and surface properties about different hair types and special hair care to treat different hair ailments. It further provides a glimpse about different herbs, phytoconstituents, oils and their uses for hair nourishment. Various herbal therapies have many advantages like no side effects, low cost, patient compliance and have multiple therapeutic effects for hair problems.
