E-Disha: A New Paradigm of Public Governance

Abstract

This study was conducted on 164 respondents (selected by the accidental sampling method) obtained through an interview schedule to know about the functioning of the e-Disha centre of the district Kurukshetra. It was found in this study that both urban and rural inhabitants, irrespective of their caste and category, availed different regulatory services like land registration, driving licence, different certificates, vehicle registration, etc. The sampled users complained about the overcrowding and suffocation in waiting halls, non-courteous attitude of dealing officials and long waiting hours, but a large majority of them observed that the e-Disha centre has increased the efficiency and accountability of governance.
