Abstract

At present, India hosts almost 100,000 Sri Lankan refugees. Sri Lanka has a long history of political violence which led to mass displacement of the Tamilian community in Sri Lanka. Institutional discrimination further developed the feeling of alienation among the Sri Lankan Tamils. The issue of citizenship and equal treatment is the right of every individual born on earth to which Tamilians were subject for a long period. The present situation is very peculiar and man-made. People are leaving the country due to high inflation which is the result of faulty policies. Political elites hardly care about the situation in Sri Lanka.
