Hohnel causing leaf spot of strawberry Badri Z.A., Ghani M.Y., Qazi N.A., Ahmad Shahzad, Ashraf Sabiha Division of Plant Pathology, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir, Shalimar, Srinagar-191121 Online published on 5 December, 2011. Abstract Ten botanicals viz., Artimesia indica, Datura stramonium, Uretica dioica, Cannabis sativa, Mentha spicata, Lavendula officinalis, Allium sativum, A. porum, A. cepa and Juglans regia were evaluated in vitro @ 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50% concentration against Hainesia lythri (causal organism of leaf spot of strawberry). Amongst them, three most promising were further evaluated in vivo against the disease. A. sativum followed by L. officinalis and D. stramonium proved to be the most effective in suppressing 62.08, 60.52 and 60.19% of mycelial growth of H. lythri compared to 27.33 to 45.35% reduction observed in rest of test botanicals. In vivo evaluation of botanicals revealed that A. sativum and L. officinalis @ 50 % concentration each proved to be the most effective in reducing the disease intensity (12.76 and 14.38%, respectively, as compared to 29.21% recorded in check).
