Management of Alternaria blight (Alternaria cucumerina ) of clusterbean Singh Narendra*, Deshwal H.L., Sharma A.K. Agricultural Research Station, Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner -334006 *E-mail: singhnarendra35@yahoo.com
Online Published on 28 August, 2023. Abstract Alternaria blight caused by Alternaria cucumerina var. cyamopsidis is an important disease of clusterbean, under severe infestation it causes 43–78% losses in seed yield. Two-years field experiments were conducted in hot arid conditions at Bikaner, Rajasthan with the objective to find out suitable management strategies for blight. The experiment was conducted on cv. RGC- 1033 against blight with seven different foliar treatments of fungicides against the Alternaria blight and compared with an untreated control. Results of experiment showed that all the treatments resulted in significant decrease in disease intensity and consequently enhancement of seed yield as compared to control. The treatment having foliar spray with tebuconazole 250 eC @ 0.1% had minimum (4.50%) blight intensity, highest seed yield (1450 kg/ha) and net return (Rs 36,234/ha). The foliar spray with hexaconazole 5 eC @ 0.1 % was the next best treatment with 7.02% disease intensity and 1241 kg/ha of seed yield. These treatments can provide an effective and economical management of Alternaria blight of clusterbean for cultivators.
