Abstract This paper explores the analysis of current transformer failure. The parameters required to determine the healthy condition of current transformer are verified. The actual cause was detected from diagnostic test performed on the current transformer. It was concluded that the undervalued component of the current transformer may have contributed to the catastrophic collapse. The case study identifies the actual reason for failure.
