Abstract

The analysis of Indian agriculture across six sub-periods reveals the dynamic shifts in the sector’s performance. The Modified Bia-Perron Method has been used to identify structural breaks, while dummy variables were employed to regressed in single regression for different sub-periods. The Green Revolution played a crucial role in driving substantial growth during the second sub-period, leading to improved agricultural practices and productivity. The first sub-period faced negative growth due to droughts and limited resources. Subsequent sub-periods showed mixed trends, with variations in factors like irrigation, rainfall, and fertilizer usage. However, overall, the sector witnessed sustained growth, highlighting the importance of irrigation, cropping intensity, and efficient water management practices. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers to enhance agricultural practices, ensure sustainable growth, and address challenges in the sector, ultimately contributing to food security and economic development in India.
