Open and Distance Learning System in India: Impacton Library and Information Science with Special Reference IGNOU, NSOU, BRAOU and Annamalai University

Abstract

Distance education is currently the fastest growing form of domestic and international education system. In India nowadays distance education is a popular tool for the people want to acquire knowledge and upgrade their qualification. To make my study I have selected 4 open universities such as IGNOU, NSOU, BRAOU and Annamalai University among various universities in open and distance learning system. The teaching methodology, student support services, evolution procedure of these selected open universities are analysed through this study. Beside this analysis I have focused on the criteria and present scenario of LIS education in these open universities. Based on these analysis we can found some problems which are faced by student in their study. I have tried to give some relevant suggestions as the solutions of these problems.
