Abstract

The demand from e-learners for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) is sloping upward day by day. Many MOOCs are available in online now a days. The purpose of this study is to understand the concepts behind the design and development of a storyboard for video planning in online educational system. Database designing has been opted to prepare the storyboard for video planning. Basics of UNESCO's J-ISIS application are explained by the instructor. The storyboard consists of 16 scenes. The length of the video is 2 minutes 98 seconds. The pictures display time is 1 minute 33 seconds. The total playing time of video is 4 minutes 31 seconds. Many applications are available to design the storyboards for video planning. MSWord document is used to build the storyboard for present video planning. The visual storyboard screens are generated using the KM player. Numbers of commercial and free applications are available in the market for preparing the storyboards. Designers may choose any one of the applications that depend on their expertise in those applications. Planning is the best process for any kind of action. Hence, the structured storyboard enabled the instructor to instruct the opted topic within the stipulated time. I.e. 4 minutes 31 seconds. The time identified in the storyboard may/may not be varying sometimes while go for recording. The time variations may be fixed at the time of editing the videos/graphics/audio/text etc. However, the instructors need to spend a lot of time to plan and structure the said visual based storyboard rather than the write-up. There would be a lot to discuss about the MOOCs system. This attempt has been limited with the storyboard drafting for video planning in online learning system due to the paper length limitations. No other topics associated with the e-content development such as e-learning software (Adobe Captivate, Articulate etc.) and Open source learning platform (Moodle) are discussed in this study.
