Online published on 20 November, 2020. Abstract Information is an inexpensive resource and basic need for human beings that may help to develop an individual, a society and eventually a country. So, this is must that each and every user gets correct information at the correct time for its use. This becomes of immense importance in the case of a university environment where the users not only require information for their career development but also for conducting research leading to doctorate degrees that ultimately lead to the development of the nation. It is seen the university libraries have been the source of good and right information for their users but with the advancement of ICT, it has become easy to provide such services to the users by having automated inhouse services and also online access of information through various resources consisting of online books, periodicals and databases. The present study is conducted to ascertain the automation status and online services being provided by selected university libraries of north India.
