Evaluation of library collection in engineering college faculties at Mysore city: A study

Abstract

This paper focuses on evaluation of library collection in engineering college faculties at Mysore city. The sample is faculty members of engineering college libraries in Mysore. A total of 250 questionnaires were distributed to all the faculty members of these colleges. A sum of 235 responses was received. The objective of the study therefore is to methods used for searching library collection, use of e-collections, use of edatabase, satisfaction about library collection, barriers to the use of library collection. The values given by the user are shown in different tables, using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) for data analysis. It may be seen from the table that there is a significant difference (P<.000) among the respondents’ biggest choice with regard to the use of e-database ‘IEEE’ (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)’. Majority of the respondents scoring 76(33.0%) says ‘strongly agree’ with a mean value of 3.53 and SD being 1.44.
