Libraries and librarians introduce tools and technologies to foster reading habits and immerse readers in the joy of this activity. One such tool is bibliotherapy, which extends beyond the traditional role of libraries and emerges as a potent facilitator of reading habits. Bibliotherapy involves the systematic use of literature to aid individuals in dealin g with mental, physical, emotional, developmental, or social issues. The term "bibliotherapy" is derived from the Greek words "biblio" meaning books and "therapeia" signifying medical help. This connection aligns bibliotherapy with other techniques like art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy, play therapy etc. This paper explores the evolution of bibliotherapy, its classification, and its benefits in promoting reading habits. Additionally it sheds lights on the advantages and disadvantages of bibliotherapy. Top Keywords Bibliotherapy, Library Services, Reading Habits, Role of Librarians. Top |
