Abstract This paper presents a scientometric study in the field of “Parenteral Nutrition,” focusing on the bibliographic database MEDLINE, which is housed within PubMed. The literature considered spans from 1981 to 2020, with a total of 29,028 records retrieved for the study period. The data exhibit an increase, albeit with an inconsistent trend. Journal articles constitute 52.35% of the total records. The analysis reveals that Indian contributions to parenteral nutrition research are notable over 18 out of the 40 years studied. Within the Indian output, growth follows an irregular trajectory, reaching its peak in 2016. To supply one-third of the journal articles in Zone-1, 34 journals were required, while 274 journals were needed for the second grouping in Zone-2. Zone-3, consisting of 4,835 journal articles, required contributions from 2,013 journals. A total of 308 journals were identified as core journals in the f ield of parenteral nutrition. In terms of authorship, 30.39% of records in this study involve more than f ive authors, and 1.29% are without named authors. The average degree of collaboration is calculated at 0.85, indicating a higher level of collaborative research in the field of parenteral nutrition.
