Abstract Studies were carried out to evaluate bio-efficacy of novel insecticides viz., spinosad 45 SC, spinetoram 11.7 SC, emamectin benzoate 5 SG, chlorfenapyr 10 SC, permethrin 25 EC andazadirachtin 10000 ppm against pulse beetle, Callosobruchus maculates (Fab.) on jute cloth disc surface and as surface spray on jute bags under laboratory conditions during the year 2020. Among tested insecticides, the permethrin @ 0.14% was found to be the best with highest average toxicity and persistent toxicity index of 62.4% and 11229, respectively, with minimum number of adult emergence of pulse beetle, grain damage (by weight) and weight loss of chickpea stored in pre-treated jute bags up to 180 days. Spinosad @ 0.1% was found to be best among the novel insecticides tested with average toxicity and PT index of 39.1% and 5857, respectively, and given protection to chickpea stored in treated jute bags against pulse beetle up to 150 days.
