Abstract It is a matter of great concern that incidence of diabetes mellitus is continuously rising. It has several complications and co-morbid mental health problems. Self-efficacy of people with diabetes has been found to be a significant predictor of mental health which improves their quality of life and reduces the utilization of services. The present study was conducted to examine the role of selfefficacy in mental health among people with Type 2 diabetes. The study was conducted on a sample of 62 people with type 2 diabetes with the age range of 40 to 60 years, purposely drawn from Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Sir Sundarlal. Hospital, BHU, Varanasi (UP). The participants were administered the General Mental Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and Behavior Change Self-efficacy Scale (DSMQ). Results revealed that self-efficacy correlated significantly and negatively with mental health. Results are thoroughly discussed and implications of this study are also mentioned.
