Abstract The present paper mainly focuses on analyzing the demographic trends and changes in India in comparison with Karnataka state. The study of demography is vital to understand the changes occurring in the composition of population growth through various dimensions and its consequences on the socio-economic sectors of the regions. It acts as an accelerating factor and a stimulant towards economic growth and at the same time bears evil effects leading to low level of economic development across the regions.
