Abstract This present paper attempts to find out the effects of the menace of naxalism on tourism and its allied sectors like transport, construction, unemployment etc. It tries to find out negative perceptions in the minds of people which restrain them from visiting the Bastar region. It investigates how factors like forest cover, lack of education, poverty, rampant unemployment and corruption in the region provides nurturing medium for the growth and grooming of naxal movement.
