Abstract A novel effervescent solid pharmaceutical dosage formulation using seed extract of Trigonella foenum-graecum Linn. (Leguminaceae) was proposed. The extraction of seeds was done by water. The effervescent tablets were produced by "Heat method" using aqueous fenugreek extract, hydrous citric acid, calcium carbonate, aspartame and other excipients. Three formulations were made and evaluated for various parameters according to IP. The TLC of trigonelline was done to confirm the availability of trigonelline after the complete disintegration of tablet.
