Abstract

Objective

In this study, we have synthesized the silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles(AgNPs) using soil fungus Beauveria bassiana biomass and characterization as fungi is rapid synthesis of nanoparticles, nanoparticles was synthesized after 120 h. Nano-size particles of less than 100 nm in diameter are presently attracting increasing attention for the wide range of new uses in different fields of industry.

Methods

The fungus was cultured in sterile conditions in the laboratory in dark at room temperature then reacted with aqueous Silver nitrate (AgNO3) from Feburary to April 2016 to convert the metal silver particles to silver nanoparticles, The characteristics of synthesized AgNPs were analyzed by using hot stage microscopy, UV-Visible spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).

The results

From the FTIR analyses showed that the AgNPs have large amount of C-C and O-H bonds and a surface Plasmon resonance band was observed at 234 nm in UV-vis spectrophotometer range of wavelength from 190–1100 nm.

Conclusion

The fungus was able to tranform silver nitrate into nanoparticles of elemental silver by an extracellular mechanism. From the present study, it can be concluded that Beauveria bassania mycelia extract with neutral pH and appropriate temperature is an effective method in the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles. Moreover, the promises offered by the use of B. bassiana as an innovative conservation method were confirmed.
