Abstract

Aim

To compare the efficacy of ferric sulphate and calcium hydroxide as a pulpotomy agent.

Background

Pulpotomy is defined as a system that has been utilized to treat essential teeth of which just the coronal pulp has been influenced or contaminated via caries or damaged, while the radicular pulp stays sound. Ferric sulphate is a non-aldehyde chemical. It helps in prevention of problem in clot formation thereby minimizing chances of inflammation and internal resorption. Calcium hydroxide is a pulpotomy agent used in regenerative pulpotomy technique. Regenerative pulpotomy is also known as inductive pulpotomy technique. Formocresol is introduced to treat non vital teeth and also as a temporary intracanal medicaments during root canal therapy. It is a compound tat consists of 48.5% formaldehyde, 48.5% cresol and 3% glycerin.

Reason

To evaluate the clinical importance and efficacy of a pulpotomy agent by comparing ferric sulphate and calcium hydroxide.
