Online published on 24 August, 2018. Abstract Agastya rasayanam is a very important and famous polyherbal ayurvedic formulation used for asthma. It is an effective medicine for respiratory disorders; the main ingredient of this rasayana is Terminalia chebula. As the focus on ayurvedic medicines are increasing now a days, the current research work was performed to standardize the formulation with essential physiochemical properties like ash value (2.54% w/w), acid insoluble ash (2.16%w/w), solid content (91.5%w/w), loss on drying (1.063%w/w), fat content (4%w/w), water soluble extractive (47.61%w/w), alcohol soluble extractive (42%w/w), the pH (5.8) and also HPTLC analysis as per official procedure. The data resulted from the qualitative study helps in the identification and quality control of Agastya rasayanam. The HPTLC profile aids as a indicative tool to identify and to determine the purity and quality of Agastya rasayanam in future.
