Assess the effectiveness of palm sugar coffee on type 2 diabetes mellitus among selected rural area

Abstract

The word diabetes has been derived from two words, diabetes (Greek) which means siphon and mellitus (Latin) which means ‘sweetened with honey’. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder, it is caused due to the malfunctioning of the pancreas, which is responsible for the production of the hormone insulin. It is a medical condition in which there is an accumulation of glucose in the urine and blood of the person. Diabetes mellitus is the leading problem and the world's largest silent killer disease. India has been projected by WHO as the country with the fastest growing population of Diabetic patients. The global prevalence of diabetes has nearly doubled since 1980, rising from 4.7% to 8.5% in the adult population. In the past, people with diabetes were told to completely avoid sugar However, a person stick on to traditional foods can manage the preventive strategy right from the beginning can easily prevent this disease or control it if already suffering. The investigator found the diabetic clients are vulnerable to complication and need awareness to control blood sugar and drug complaints A quasi experimental design was obtained for this study. Samples were selected by using convenience sampling technique. The total participants were 60 male and female residing at andersenpet. One group pretest post test design was adopted for this study. Results showed that there is reduced capillary blood glucose level among diabetic clients
