Abstract

Acinetobacter baumannii can able to establish bio films on abiotic surfaces as well as biotic surfaces. The potential ability of A. baumannii to form bio films could explain its outstanding antibiotic resistance and survival properties in hospital environment. A sum of 20 clinical isolates of A. baumannii isolates were studied for antibiotic sensitivity pattern to routinely used antibiotics followed by the detection of biofilm using tissue culture plate method (TCP). We have observed increased percentage of resistance to all of the antibiotics tested. 70% of the isolates were biofilm formers. As biofilm formation, could resist antibiotics and making them stubborn pathogen in clinical setups. Thus, it is very important to study the biofilm by simple method like TCP for proper and accurate management of patient's outcome.
