Enhancing the quality of language learning through integration of ICT

Abstract

The changing conceptions of learning and the rapid technological advances have brought out a need for changes in language teaching and learning processes. There is a need to focus on active learning in our language classrooms Active learning, through the use of ICT, advances the learning process and thus raises the quality of the language learning experience. Outlining the benefits of ICT tools in language learning, this paper makes a survey of the various ICT tools that can be exploited by a language teacher to enhance language learning. Instructional change is facilitated only when both individual and organizational contexts are considered. Increased teacher control of professional development and support at every stage of instructional change when using ICT can contribute greatly to teachers’ creation of high quality online learning.
