Leading the path of innovative teaching: A ladder of success in higher education

Abstract

Education is considered as the most essential component for making transformation and social change and for improving the quality of education, innovative methods of teaching are required at all levels. Today's society is facing the problems of educational institutions which are required to be innovative. Innovative methods of teaching help the students in enhancing and developing new insights and skills towards solving the current problems which our nation faces. In the landscape of higher education, Quality teaching or innovative teaching has become an issue of importance in the present competitive environment. Innovative teaching is necessarily student-centred. Thus, attention should be given not simply to the teacher's pedagogical skills, but also to the learning environment that must address the students’ personal needs. This paper mainly focused on innovative teaching and learning methodologies such as brain storming, real-world learning, role-playing, audio-visual tools, team work, starting school clubs or groups, creative teaching and problem-based learning (PBL) are very useful in addressing the rapid technological advances and developing workplaces that will be required in the foreseeable future. This paper is very important in the broader transformation debate in higher education, focuses on improving the quality of education by the inclusion of innovative teaching and learning methodology that is highly relevant and meaningful in the present scenario.
