There were no validated scales to assess life skills among the adult population in Indian context. Hence, we assessed the concurrent validity of a tool developed for assessing life skills among the adolescent population. A convenient sample of 35 participants were recruited for the study. Life skills tool and 11 other self-rating scales were administered. Data was collected digitally and concurrent validity was assessed using Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Mean age of study participants was 27 years. Domains pertaining to coping with emotions, empathy, critical thinking, decision making and problem solving, significantly correlated with related external scales. Concurrent validity of some domains of Life skills tool significantly correlated with external scales. The life skills tool has utility for use in assessing life skills programs but we recommend further large sample studies.
