Abstract Introducing the police system in the state of Odisha, followed by related literature survey, the paper seeks to find out the relationship between the training and development that the police trainees go through and the situations they are exposed to, and the consequent attitudinal changes in the behavior of police personnel and how they manage staff. More specifically the study focuses on the effectiveness of training program of police personnel including officers, middle level officers, constabulary and ministerial staff. It draws heavily from a survey based on structured questionnaire and presents analysis of the data so gathered.
