Utilization of maternal and child health services-An comparison between rural and urban area

Abstract

The maternal and child health programmes emphasized the need to ensure that pregnant women receive adequate prenatal care, safe delivery, post natal care sought to address high risks that woman in many contexts face during child bearing. The methodology used for this study was a non-interventional exploratory design. A sample size of 100 mothers with under five children (50 from rural area and 50 from urban area) were selected from rural area (Medavakkam) and urban area (Choolai) using the systematic random sampling technique. A structured interview schedule was used to collect data and the findings revealed that the rural mothers are utilizing the maternal child health services when compared to that of the urban mothers.
