Abstract

Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) in adults is a leading cause of mortality found in people who have not recently been in the hospital or other healthcare facilities such as a nursing home or rehabilitation facility. It can be caused by many types of germs, especially Streptococcus pneumoniabacteria. The patient presents with fever, cough, nasal flaring, retractions, and tachypnea. The complete blood count and reduced oxygen saturation increase the likelihood of pneumonia diagnosis. The inter-professional team of nurses should monitor the patient's status and update the rest of the team aids to early and complete recovery according to management guidelines. Healthcare professionals should encourage all patients to get the annual influenza vaccine. In addition, all adults 65 years and older and those considered at risk for pneumonia must receive the pneumococcal vaccination. The current guidelines of management make excellent outcomes in most patients with CAP.
