Challenges to waste management practices in Indian Health Care

Abstract

A lot of challenges to health care waste management practices are faced by Indian health care sector. It includes lack of segregation practices, proper operational strategy, regulative measures, green procurement policy and waste-picking and reusing. There is an urgent need for raising awareness and education on medical waste issues. Green Supply Chain Management(GSCM) has been widely adopted and implemented by various sectors to reduce environmental impact of their operations thus by gaining improved brand image and competitive advantage.
