Abstract

Sex ratio of any country signifies the status of women in society and shows the This imbalance is often the result of son preference, rooted in cultural and economic experiences, and accentuated by declining fertility and pressures to have smaller families. Sex ratio is also calculated for various age groups, the most important being 0–6 years. An adverse sex ratio here shows that fewer girls are being born compared to boys and so indicates discrimination against the female foetus-this could be at the time of conception, gestation or delivery. An adverse 0–6 years sex ratio also reveals that socio-cultural factors are determining survival chances of the female. In Our country sadly, households have become sex-selection unit and equally participating in hiding and exaggerating this illegal practice from many decades and securing their male population. Do not blame daughters, when you are incapable of giving them right to survival, protection, education and development. Raise the alarm in schools, colleges, community, public meetings, hospitals, etc to seriously look at the matter and punish who found guilty.
