A study of empowerment of post graduate students’ of S.N.D.T. women's university.

Abstract

Education is the major instrument of social change. The formal education system has been established with the purpose of developing human resource in a systematic way. It is expected that the empowered person is competent, confident and responsible. The S. N. D. T. Women's University is unique as it aimed at empowering women through education by offering various courses. The post graduate courses offered by the university are framed by keeping students in mind. In today's technological age it is necessary for the women to be assertive and for that she should have high self esteem. The critical and logical thinking help in the development of scientific attitude and if one is clear about her thoughts and actions then can make appropriate decision. In this study the researcher has taken Scientific Attitude, Self Esteem and Decision making ability as the indicators of empowerment. These indicators of empowerment have been compared on the basis of faculty and category. Though statistically there is no significant difference is observed in these components faculty wise and category wise, it is seen that still we have to achieve the objective having positive self esteem, high scientific attitude and decision making ability which will create a competent women force and contribute in self and nation's development.
