Empty plates; The woe continues for musahars in eastern Uttar Pradesh Singh Bhumendra1, Dr. Patel Rahul2 1Research Scholar, Department of Anthropology, Allahabad Central University, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India 2Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology, Allahabad Central University, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, Email: Rahul.anthropologist@gmail.com Online published on 13 June, 2019. Abstract Present paper is based on rigorous anthropological field work in a village named Rampur Devali under block Pratapur in Tehsil Phulpur of District Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. Applying qualitative and quantitative research methods, the study attempts to bring forward the pathetic condition of the Musahars of eastern Uttar Pradesh. A scheduled caste without any political messiah is forced to live in the stage of hunting and gathering as the meaning of their name itself suggest. The study reveals that although constituting 1.5% of total population of scheduled caste the population of the Musahars is still deprived of most of the basic amenities required for dignified life.
