Nutritional Status of Pre-school Children and Their Relation with Educational and Economic Status of Parents of AI-Zaideyah-Hodaidah Governorate of Yemen

Abstract

A Cross sectional study was conducted in Al-Zaideyah-Hodaidah Governorate of Yemen in nutrition intervention area (A) and non intervention area (B). The study was aimed atassessing the nutritional status of the pre-school boys and girls using anthropometry. Data was collected at randomfrom 430 individuals of age group 0-5 years (220 boys and 210 girls) and presented in pooled form. Assessment of nutritional status of this study shows evidence of malnutrition in both the regions of nutrition. intervention area (region A) and non intervention area (region B) Children suffer from very severe malnutrition, stunting (41.2%). wasting (15.1%), and underweight (36.5%).Education and economic status are the influential factors and, Parent's are associated with the nutritional status of children of both the regions.
