Abstract

The ABO and Rh blood group system are the major blood group systems in humans, which are clinically important. In the present study the focus is given to study the distribution of ABO and Rh blood group system among Bhils and Rajputsof Rajasthan. This study was conducted on 252 individuals for ABO blood group and on 101 individuals for Rh phenotype. The ABO and Rh blood type was determined by antigen-antibody agglutination test tube method. It was seen that the frequency distribution of the eallele was maximum (62%), followed by the Callele (52%), and that of the callele was 48%, followed by E allele was 38%. Fifteen Rhphenotypic groups of various frequencies were found. The CcDEe phenotype is the most predominant (28.6%) of the said region's population. Again, it was found that AB negative blood group was not found in the population which could be the result of evolutionary aspect. O blood group was most abundantly found in the population and this could be the result of decrease in marriage distance leading to geographical inbreeding.
