Abstract The objective of the present study the prevalence of childhood and adolescent obesity in North Delhi. A cross sectional study was designed in which data relating to anthropometry were collected. A data of 500 children and adolescents (6-15years) have been collected cross-sectionally from North Delhi Public Schools in an Indian Council Medical Research funded study. Body Mass Index is a height weight system of measurement that applies to both the sexes has been used to assess obesity. A high prevalence of obesity is seen at ages 8 and 9 years (20%), 13 years(32%) among males whereas in females, the prevalence of obesity is high at ages 6, 7, 10 and 13years(12%). So, this problem needs to be addressed urgently by making corrections in the diet. The conclusion of the study shows the increasing prevalence of obesity in children and adolescents.
