Abstract This paper investigates Itawes culture in both historical and religious light in support of the people's concept of Nonok and seeks to contribute to an informative discussion as shape of moral responsibility to evangelize and understand particular culture in relation to other culture. Every person has its own native and seminal wisdom which, as a true cultural treasure, tends to find voice and develop in forms which are genuinely philosophical. One example of this is the basic form of philosophical knowledge, which is evident to this day in the postulates that inspire national and international legal systems in regulating the life of society. (John Paul II 1998) The reader might mistake this as a mere philosophical discourse; conversely, the reader should consider philosophy to be ancillatheologiae. The very culture a person belongs to is something that defines who he/she is, what she is and also seen through how it is done. There is also a point of convergence with other culture, diverse, yet meant to be in unity. In addition to his claim, it is a challenge how to understand since there must be something to congregate into heedlessly their differences. Although sometimes as obedience to the great mandate of Christ is usually understood as imposition for people from other culture. But remembering Justin Martyr, he viewed some of the pagan philosophers as anticipating the gospel, because they perceived the seeds of divine truth and revelation in their thoughts and writings (Schineller 1990). This optimism is the disposition needed to continue on with the evangelization. The questions that this paper seek to answer are; (1). What is in the heart that desires to know the truth in the context of the Itawes with the concept of nonok (2). Describe the inculturation of the concept of nonok in the Itawes language.
