A Simple Method for a Practical Boundary Shear Force Prediction in Free – Inclined Hydraulic Jump Demetriou J. National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) School of Civil Engineering, Hydraulics Laboratory, Greece. Synopsis In this paper a simple, practical and quick method is presented to indirectly predict the total boundary shear force along a free sloped hydraulic jump, in a rectangular channel with inclination angles 0o<φ<16o and Froude numbers 2<Fr1<16. The method compares the present results with previous data based on the laboratory and the onedimensional momentum equation. The comparison shows small differences, i.e. the method is considered as successful, and may help the hydraulic engineer when designing any pertinent stilling basin – sloped or horizontal. Top | |
